Confidentiality and Data Protection
As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I work in accordance with their Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions, which guides how I handle information responsibly and ethically.
Confidentiality is a core part of the therapeutic relationship. It means that what you share in our sessions stays private and is not disclosed to anyone else without your consent or in exceptional circumstances - where there is a legal obligation or if someone is at risk of serious harm. We can discuss this more when we meet and it is also outlined in more detail in my contract.
My commitment is to create a safe, trustworthy space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings openly, knowing that your privacy is respected and protected.
I collect and hold personal information about my clients in order to provide therapy and support. All personal data is stored securely and handled in accordance with GDPR and the professional and ethical requirements of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Your information is kept strictly confidential, used only for the purposes of our work together and will not be shared without your consent except where required by law.
If you have any questions about how your information is stored or used, please feel free to ask.
